The Apple Watch Series 7 is the latest in the long line of smart watches from Apple. Featuring a larger always-on Retina display to a more rounded design with a larger casing, improved durability and faster charging. Apple may have just popped the competition.

Design

The Series 7 design builds on the rounded, square look from prior generations. However, it now comes in the new 41mm and 45mm casing sizes with options to suit different preferences and wrist sizes. The design of the Apple Watch Series 7 has been refined with softer, more rounded edges.

Colours & Materials

The Series 7 comes in three materials: aluminum, stainless steel and titanium. The aliminium is naturally the most affordable with the titanium model being the most expensive.

Apple launched four new aluminum colours this year: Midnight, Starlight, Gree and Blue. They join the ongoing (PRODUCT)RED carried over from Series 6. The stainless steel comes in Silver, Gold or Graphite whilst the titanium model is available in a natural colour (a grayish silver) and Space Black.

Durability

The Series 7 features the new stronger, redesigned front crystal component with a more robust geometry. It is 50% thicker than the previous generations whilst being more resistant to cracking.

The aluminum Apple Watch models feature Ion-X glass to protect the display, while the stainless steel and titanium models use sapphire crystal glass. Sapphire crystal glass offers better scratch resistance than Ion-X glass because it is a harder material, which means the models with sapphire crystal models are more resistant to scratching and everyday wear.

The Series 7 is IP6X dust-resistant and WR50 water-resistant. So you can take it to the beach and swim up to 50 metres thanks to seals and adhesives.

Health Features

The Series 7 comes with the same health monitoring features that the prior Series 6 and most smartwatches come with. Heart rate sensor, electrical heart rate sensor, blood oxygen monitoring, sleep tracking, etc.

Battery Life & Charging

The Series 7 provides an “all-day” 18 hour battery life from a single charge. Which in most cases is all day just not all night. However, the Series 7 now charges 33% faster compared with the Series 6. You can thank the new charging architecture and the Magnetic Fast Charger USB-C Cable with the 18W adapter you need to buy.

Final Comments

The Series 7 is by far the better smartwatch of the pack. It is always going to be on the pricier side but that’s Apple for you. That’s before you’ve factored in the Nike edition cost. Would we recommend the Series 7? Yes we would!
